MAIN STAGE - SUNDAY 2 APRIL, 7.30 PM
Singer-songwriter and guitarist Raul Midón has earned a reputation as one of music’s most distinctive and searching voices. The New Mexico native, blind since birth, has released 8 albums since 1999 including acclaimed studio production A World Within a World (Manhattan/ EMI, 2007). According to the New York Times, he is “a one-man band who turns a guitar into an orchestra and his voice into a chorus”. Midón’s collaborations with industry icons Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock are a testament to his phenomenal reputation. His unique brand of a music, a vibrant mix of jazz, rock and flamenco, has produced distinct hits including State Of Mind, Blackbird, and Mystery Girl. Midón’s upcoming Bad Ass and Blind album finds the artist expanding his range compositionally, drawing inspiration from jazz composers such as Miles Davis and Wayne Shorter.
Dubbed “The Eclectic Adventurist” by People Magazine and “a free man beyond category” by the Huffington Post, Midón’s live performances are an extraordinary music experience not to be missed. Catch Raul Midón LIVE on Sunday 2nd April at #SingJazz 2017!
